You are not alone in this struggle. Many have walked this path before – souls burdened with work, caught in the whirlwind of responsibilities, and yet, unknowingly thirsting for the One who calls them by name.
Think of Martha, rushing, preparing, making sure everything was in order, yet missing the one thing necessary: to sit at the feet of Jesus. She wasn’t wrong in her work, but she was drowning in it, forgetting that love is nourished not just by service but by presence.
Think of Zacchaeus – a man lost in calculations, surrounded by wealth but empty inside. He had no time for God, yet something within him longed to see Jesus. So he climbed a tree because sometimes, when life buries us, we must rise above our distractions to catch a glimpse of grace.
Think of Peter in the storm, walking towards Jesus but losing sight of Him as the waves of duty, expectations, and anxieties crashed around him. He sank, not because he wasn’t strong, but because he let his focus slip from the One who was holding him all along.
And now, think of you.
Caught in a sea of responsibilities. Running from one task to another. Perhaps even doing the Lord’s work, yet feeling far from the Lord Himself. But here’s the truth that these stories reveal: Jesus is already looking for you.
He called Martha by name and reminded her that the world won’t stop if she pauses to be with Him. He stopped under Zacchaeus’ tree and invited Himself into his home because when we can’t find time for God, God finds time for us. He stretched out His hand to Peter, because even in our sinking, He never lets us go.
So, what must you do? Nothing extraordinary. Just one small shift: Turn your gaze.
Instead of seeing prayer as another task, see it as a moment of rest. A pause in the chaos where the world fades, and only Jesus remains.
Instead of waiting for the perfect time, let every moment be an altar. Whisper a prayer between classes, offer your work as worship, see His face in those around you.
Instead of climbing higher in search of Him, realize He is already beside you, whispering, “Come to Me, all who are weary, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
You are not forgotten in your busyness. You are pursued. You are loved. And even in the storm, even in the noise, He is here.
