There comes a moment in every heart when we must choose — not between good and bad, but between what is good and what is eternal; between the noise of the world and the whisper of God; between many loves and the One Love that never fades.
Mary of Bethany made that choice.
She sat at the feet of Jesus — not busy, not restless, not running around to prove her worth.
She simply listened.
And in her stillness, she was filled.
“Mary has chosen the better part,” Jesus said, “and it will not be taken from her.”
It is a love that does not pass away,
A peace that does not expire,
A joy untouched by the rise and fall of people’s opinions.
When the love of God no longer fills the heart, emptiness begins to speak.
And emptiness is loud.
It sends people searching — for comfort, for thrill, for anything that feels like love.
Some go after attention, some after pleasure.
Some escape into distractions, others into addictions.
We chase after broken cisterns that hold no water, because we forget the fountain we were made to drink from.
But when a soul is truly filled with the love of God, it no longer wanders.
It no longer aches to be seen, or strives to be chosen.
It rests.
It is satisfied.
Because nothing else can compare to being loved completely, eternally, and without condition.
We live in a world filled with so many voices:
Some call us to be liked,
Some call us to be wanted,
Some say, “Be mine,”
But only One says, “You are already Mine.”
Friendship is beautiful.
Affection is sweet.
But even the finest wine of human love can never quench the thirst of the soul.
Our hearts were made for more —
Not just to be loved, but to be filled with Love itself.
As St. Augustine once said:
“You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in You.”
To be filled with God’s love does not mean rejecting others.
It means being so full that there is no room for wandering,
No hunger for approval,
No thirst for attention —
Only a heart anchored in the ocean of His presence.
But it is not easy.
The heart is wild.
It strays.
It forgets.
It aches to be seen, to be held.
And so, you must return — again and again — to the feet of Jesus.
That place of stillness is not laziness.
It is freedom.
To rest in His gaze is not weakness — it is strength.
To say “no” to many good things in order to say “yes” to the Best thing —
That is love.
Choose the better part.
Fall in love with the One who holds nothing back.
Make space for Him in the quiet corners of your life —
in prayer, in silence, and in the ordinary moments that often go unnoticed.
Return to His feet, again and again,
until the noise within becomes a song,
and the hunger inside you turns into a flame.
Because when you are filled with Him —
truly filled —
you will not need to chase attention, affection, or escape.
You will not go searching for false loves or fleeting highs.
No other love will feel missing,
no purpose will feel lost,
and everything else
will find its rightful place.
