When Little Becomes Enough

When Little Becomes Enough

The sun was dipping low, the crowd was restless, and the disciples were anxious. Five thousand men – women and children not even counted – stood hungry in the wilderness, their eyes searching for hope. The need was great, the resources were scarce, and human logic whispered, It is impossible.

But then, Jesus looked at them – not just at the crowd, but at the disciples too. His gaze was calm, steady, and unshaken. “You give them something to eat,” He said. It wasn’t a question; it was a challenge. A call to trust.

The disciples hesitated. “We have only five loaves and two fish. What is this among so many?”

Ah, but faith does not ask how much is in the basket. Faith asks, Whose hands will hold it?

And so, they placed their little into His hands. Hands that shaped the stars. Hands that called the dead to life. Hands that did not cling to power but lifted the broken. Hands that took a boy’s humble offering and made it a feast.

He blessed. He broke. He gave. And it was enough.

Not just enough – more than enough. Baskets overflowed. Hunger turned to satisfaction. Doubt turned to awe. And the disciples? They saw what trust can do. They saw what happens when you stop measuring your resources and start measuring the One who calls you to give.

This is not just a miracle of multiplication; it is a miracle of surrender. It is the miracle of believing that when Christ asks, Give me what you have, He is not asking for what is missing – He is asking for what is possible.

And so, the question echoes through time: What is in your hands today? A little strength? A little love? A little faith? Offer it. Even when it seems small, even when it feels foolish, even when the need around you is overwhelming.

Because in the hands of Jesus, little is never little. It becomes life. It becomes abundance. It becomes a story of trust written not just in history, but in the hearts of those who dare to believe.
