Mary’s Yes

Mary’s Yes

Lord Jesus, as I sit with this Gospel, I imagine the quiet life of Mary suddenly interrupted by an angel. She was young, ordinary in the eyes of the world, yet chosen for something beyond imagination. Gabriel’s words must have been overwhelming. He spoke of God’s favor, of a child to be born, of a kingdom without end. And in the middle of it all, there was Mary, listening, questioning, but most of all, open.

Her final words echo in my heart. Let it be done to me according to your word. She did not fully understand. She did not see the whole picture. But she trusted. She said yes. That yes changed everything. It opened the way for you to come into the world.

Lord, I want to have a heart like hers. A heart that listens when you call. A heart that is not afraid when life takes an unexpected turn. A heart that is willing to say yes even when the road ahead is unclear.

You lived this yes every day. You embraced the Father’s will in joy and in suffering. You walked the path of love with trust and surrender. Teach me to do the same. In my ordinary life, in my small choices, help me to say yes to love. Yes to kindness. Yes to patience. Yes to whatever you ask of me.

Like Mary, I may not always understand. But I want to trust that your plans are always good. I want to believe that every yes, no matter how small, allows your light to shine a little brighter in this world.

Thank you, Lord, for giving me Mary as a model of faith. May my life, like hers, be a yes that brings your love to others.
