The Gift of this Moment

The Gift of this Moment

Matthew 9:14-15

Jesus, your disciples were different. Others fasted, but they did not. When people questioned you about it, you simply said that while you were with them, it was a time to rejoice. The time for fasting would come later.

You teach me something beautiful today. Life has different seasons. There is a time for fasting and a time for feasting. A time for waiting and a time for receiving. A time for longing and a time for resting in your presence. You do not ask me to carry the burden of tomorrow while standing in the grace of today. You remind me to be present, to rejoice when you are near, and to live fully in the moment you have given me.

Jesus, I often rush through life as if the present is never enough. I look ahead with restlessness or behind with longing. But you were never like that. You knew when to sit and share a meal with your friends. You knew when to pray alone on the mountain. You knew when to weep and when to rejoice. You were fully alive in every moment because you were fully with the Father.

Teach me to live like you. Help me to see the beauty of now, to cherish the people around me, to love without distraction, to listen without hurry, and to pray without worrying about tomorrow. You are here, and that is enough. Let my heart rest in this truth. Let my soul rejoice in your presence.

Amen.
